July 2026 Launch Recap
Complete launch recap for The Mermaid Mask on July 16, 2026: SFB Games press release, Convergence showcase premiere, platforms, and day-one investigation tips.
London-based SFB Games released The Mermaid Mask on July 16, 2026, following years of development that spanned the studio's Crow Country detour and continued refinement of hand-animated submarine environments. The launch coincided with the Convergence Games Showcase premiere, positioning the title as the summer's flagship narrative indie alongside strong day-one reviews. Detective Grimoire and Sally Spears investigate Captain Magnus Mortuga's locked-room murder aboard the Mortuga Submarine—a case combining Illusion Theatre stagecraft, fully voiced suspect interviews, and rotatable 3D evidence for the first time in the series.
What SFB Games Confirmed at Launch
Official messaging highlights an impossible murder beside an ancient cauldron, eight voiced suspects with individual suspicion tracks, and mechanical puzzles gated by the familiar keyhole confirmation icon. Creative director Adam Vian and technical director Tom Vian noted in press interviews that development exceeded prior Grimoire projects in scope, with Tom Vian stating the team hoped players would enjoy the mystery as much as they enjoyed building it. Retail pricing settled at $19.99 USD with parity across Steam, PlayStation Store, and Nintendo eShop listings.
